The course will enable you to-

• Define and identify different types of Special Educational Needs (SEN), and understand the role and key responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant.
• Explain the SEND Code of Practice and understand its legal framework, including key acts like the Children and Families Act 2014 and the Equality Act 2010.
• Utilize a graduated approach to SEN support (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) and tailor support for children of different age groups.
• Recognize various needs in reading, writing, spelling, mathematical skills, and provide the appropriate resources to support these areas.
• Apply SEN Teaching Methodologies to  Create an inclusive learning environment using techniques such as scaffolding, effective questioning, and developing independence.
• Address speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), and implement strategies for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia.
•  Develop classroom strategies for managing mental health issues, ADHD, and physical or sensory disabilities such as visual and hearing impairments.
• Comprehend the process of Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plans, from requesting an assessment to finalizing and maintaining the plan, including the mediation and appeal processes.
